in all honesty, i think the reason more mods arent released comes down to two things
lack of 'proper' well thought out ideas, dedication.
i remember when we first started dev for dystopia there were like 8 'cyberpunk' mods being devved for source, of those 2 looked like they could be competition, of them only ours seemed to have a true direction and goals from day one. on top of that you have the whole 'my whole gaming career i have been playing pseudorealistic/ww2 mods, my mind is jelly apart from thoughts of that style of gaming'
lack of gaming experience leading to close-mindedness as far as ideas go
most of us in the dev team are considered dinosaurs as far as gamers go, which is a scary thought considering im only 22, but i would hazard a guess that the majority of gamers havent heard of games like the sierra/lucasfilm classics (ie. space quest, sam 'n max, leisure suit larry) and the shareware revolution (commander keen, jill of the jungle) then compounded with the fps's we all love (duke3d / doom / quake / rise of the triad) all these games that were stupidly groundbreaking when they were released. then there was the slew of mods that made the whole thing go crazy.
most gamers dont have that background, in summary its hard to 'think outside the box' when it seems like nobody else has, dont take this as abusive, if it wasnt for the new guys getting into gaming, the scene as a whole would be dead.
