RELEASE: Dystopia Props & Textures Pack by afk

Postby afk » Fri Aug 03, 2007 7:10 pm

Okay so I decided to release some of my props and textures for use by the Dystopia Team and the mapping community. Feel free to use these props or textures in any of your maps for dystopia.

I have not filtered through this stuff so there’s a fair amount of pants stuff in there that didn't get used for the project it was made for. It’s all usable though. None of the HL2 assets could be used for the original project, so there’s some stuff in here that’s already covered by Valves own stuff, but I've included it in case you want a little variation. Many of the textures are similar in theme/style to valves and won’t be that useful, there’s plenty of new neon’s in there though. Some textures scroll, and many have multiple signs/neons on the same texture and will require some nifty alignment.

In the post below this I'll put up some screenshots of the level I made the props and textures for so you can get some idea of the contents and usage of the pack. Please don't ask me to release for or convert the map to dystopia, its very unsuitable for a number of reasons.

Also please note there are no thumbnail images in the model viewer/browser in hammer, so you'll have to click the model to see what its like. Many models also have many skins/recolourations. Please don't ask me to do any further works on these props or textures. You can make your own textures from my models, but please don't decompile and modify the models/meshes themselves. If you want to please ask me first.

I'm busy at the moment, but if someone wants to screenshot each of the props in model viewer and host them feel fress because it'd be a big help to anyone using the props. Everything in the environment you can see in the screenshots below is in this release, all the props and all the textures, apart from the level itself and the gun model you can see.

Thanks to everyone whos hosted the files elsewhere for download :)

Whatever that map is it captures the feel of cyberpunk perfectly. I couldn't care less about playing Dystopia in it, but damn, now I REALLY want a sort of Deus Ex / Shadowrun game :)
